Current function of the building.
It is currently set up as a retreat centre through the months of May, June, September and October and hosts back packers throughout the mid summer months. The season is longer than most due to the suitability for hosting yoga and artist retreats. The staff resides on the top floor, which can be separated from the rest of the building and has its own entrance. This is also where the owners live during off season. The building has been known to sleep in excess of 40 people comfortably, and hosts weddings, parties, conferences, staff team building weekends, photographic retreats, yoga and many other events.
Built in roughly 1867, the building was a water powered mill, making olive oil, soap and apparently fabrics at one time. A lot of the stones were scavenged from the old town as it turned to ruin. This is apparent by the carved stones featuring family emblems and other decorative embellishments. In 2016 it was stripped to its external 4 walls, repaired and repointed, had its foundations replaced, and a concrete frame inserted within the stone walls to ensure its stability for decades to come. An extra floor was inserted, and new slabs poured. The plumbing, electricity and roof were completely renewed, and work was done to landscape the garden area. Since 2017 it has been operating as accommodation throughout the months of May-November.
